The activity took place in the presence of public employees from the Ministries of : Finance, Public Works and Communications, Industry and Trade, Directorate General of Customs, Directorate General of Foreign Trade, the Dominican Agrarian Institute, National Office of Industrial Property, Water and Sewerage Corporation of Santiago National Institute of Water Supply and Sewerage and the National Council of Free Zones.
The event was chaired by Felix de la Rosa, head of the Academic Department of CAPGEFI , representing the Director General, Mariano Escoto Saba; Pura Burgos, sub-secretary of Finance based in Santiago, Jorge Moronta, Coordinator of the Directorate General of Customs to the North, and Belkis Santana, facilitator who taught the course Introduction to the State Financial Administration
and Manuel Amador Montero, head of the Admissions Division of CAPGEFI.
During the ceremony, Mr. Felix de la Rosa said that these training of public employees enables to transform the reform process in a reality.
Mr. Luis Felipe Inoa, an employee of the National Council of Free Zones, thanked the training on behalf of all participants, indicating that these courses open the doors so that the employees can perform their jobs more efficiently.

Through the National Plan of asphaltBREAKING NEWS: Santiago.- The government is reconstructing neighborhoods of this city, where streets and avenues in different sectors, are asphalted in full through the National Asphalt Plan, implemented by the present administration with a millionaire investment.
The works are executed by companies and engineering contractors, assigned by the Engineering Office of the State Works Supervisors (OISOE), under the supervision of a group of specialist engineers who monitor the various works.
In the city of Santiago the works continue on the Avenida de Circunvalación Sur
project, which roads will be completely paved from La Fuente
to the El Ingenio Arriba
, which also includes the construction of side-walks and curbs and a modern lighting on the banks of the Yaque del Norte, according to the explanations given by the engineer Alvaro Peralta.
The ambitious plan for reconstruction of roads, paving and renovation of sidewalks and curb extends to middle-class residential areas of the city of Cibao, and Altos de Rafey, as neighborhood committee requested the repair of the roads sector.

Between Santo Domingo and Santiago de los CaballerosBREAKING NEWS: Santiago.- Ministry of Public Works began work on rehabilitation of the Duarte highway between Santo Domingo and Santiago de los Caballeros, as part of the project VIADOM 2010, which overall investment exceeds 470 millions dollars.
The rehabilitation works on Duarte highwayconsists in the removal of damaged asphalt, sanitation and asphalting of the area.
After repair damage in the Duarte highway, the workers will proceed to complete the asphalting of 127 kilometers, covering the distance from kilometer 21 of the Duarte Highway until kilometer 148 to the south entrance of Santiago.
Heavy equipment, workers and technicians are responsible for the first stage of rehabilitation of the Duarte highway, a first one moves from Santo Domingo toward Santiago, while the other is moving toward Santo Domingo.

José Enrique Sued wins 45.64% of votesBREAKING NEWS: Santiago.-The Central Electoral Board emitted this Monday may 17th, in the morning, the official results of municipal and congress elections that took place yesterday in all the country.
In Santiago de los Caballeros, the Party of Dominican Liberation, PLD and its allies obtained 45.64% of suffrages, while the Dominican Revolutionary Party, PRD and its allies won 49.07% of votes, for a total of 143,269 voters.
It represents 103,021 votes in favor of PLD candidate and actual mayor, José Enrique Sued, and 110,748 votes for the PRD candidate, Gilberto Serulle.
The elections of this May 16th, 2010, led to the reelection of Gilberto Serulle as mayor of Santiago, who will take office on next August 16th, and will direct the town hall until 2016.

Central Electoral Board formalized his victoryBREAKING NEWS: Santiago.- In the monument area of this city, was celebrated the victory as mayor of Dr. Gilberto Serulle, which was the candidate for the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD) and the Movement Independence Unity and Change (MIUCA).
Thousands of people from all social strata enjoyed the contagious rhythm and typical music of several orchestras.
Near 9:00 pm Serulle Gilberto, the next mayor of Santiago, came on stage.
Santiago de Los Caballeros celebrated from Sunday night the triumph of Mr. Serulle but on Tuesday the celebrations became bigger with the official results of the Central Electoral Board.

On Tuesday, May the 18th hundreds of people attended the special programat Centro Leon which began at 10:00 am, conducted in coordination with the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and the Ministry of Culture.
This program began with a day of open door

. In turn, the Center held its Third Leon Craft Fair in order to promote the works of over 20 artisans in the country as authentic expressions of its culture and identity.

attendees also participated in guidedtours through the exhibition rooms making Centro Leon a good choice to celebrate International Museum Day.

A group of guides also gave tours to school visitors from different provinces of the country.
This special program concluded with the Caribbean Tertulia social reflex performance, in which the Urban Eye Collective formed by Miguel Rivas and Tony Saint Hilaire, talked about their approach to themes that reflect and promote social harmony, while they presented the proposals submitted in 2008-2009 in the city of Santiago, the latter performed in collaboration with the Centro León.
For Centro Leon, the festival of the International Museum Day was an excellent opportunity to strengthen its intention that the work of the museum and socio-cultural performing rest in a permanent dialogue with the community.

By the Endowment Fund of the Reformed CompaniesBREAKING NEWS: Santiago.- The Endowment Fund of the Reformed Enterprises (FONPER) built here a modern sports center with which it is proposed to create conditions for youth from nine communities around the south of Santiago to practice healthy activities.
The structure will be erected on Mama Tingo street on the corner of San Martín, and will involve an investment of more than 9 million pesos.
The ground breaking ceremony was led by President of FONPER, Fernando Rosa and Deputy Sports Minister for the Northern region, Guillermo Ottenwalder.
With the construction of the sports field, FONPER is on track to meet a community demand that has existed for more than three decades.The facilities will be equipped with bleachers, restrooms, perimeter fencing, parking areas and other facilities.

Community leaders revealed that due to lack of sports facilities, youth in the community have held more than 20 tournaments in borrowed facilities.
Visibly excited, Chaplain and Brown stated that the next tournament will be dedicated to the president of FONPER in gratitude for the valuable support that the institution he heads is giving to the communities of the South Zone of Santiago.
It was reported that in addition to the practice of various sports, the facilities will also be used for other community activities.
This work is part of a wide range of different infrastructures designed by FONPER in the development plan prepared to be executed on the south side of Santiago.

To build homes for needy familiesBREAKING NEWS: Santiago.- The Endowment Fund of the Reformed Enterprises (FONP) made a donation to the National Housing Institute (INVI), through the Presidency of the Republic, in the amount of 100 million pesos to be invested in the building of houses for needy families in different parts of the country.
The resources were presented at the National Palace by FONP President, Mr. Fernando Rosa and were accepted by the Administrative Vice President, Bolivar Tapia.
This is the second significant amount of money the FONP has given in less than a month to carry out projects to improve the quality of life of the Dominican population.
It is recalled that the state agency recently turned over to the Rural Electrification Unit and Sub-Urban (UERS) an amount of 29,403,262.92 pesos to support projects in communities that lack electricity service.
Upon receiving the 100 million pesos delivered on Thursday, Bolivar Tapia acknowledged the FONP gesture and urged them to continue, as they have done so far, to ensure that the resources that enterprises donate go directly to the Dominican population through projects and programs.
